(...) By now you know who won here. I normally vote republican, although I am independent. But last two presidential elections drove me to democrats - Bush was terrible for this country and the world. What is troubling is that we knew it after 4 years but gave him another 4 years! And now I voted for Obama but we are taking another chance on inexperience. The world waits and wonders - as do I.
My biggest concern is that democrats now control white house and legislature - so checks and balances in place. And where that will be felt most is appointment of judges. Obama has several in the federal system to appoint and they will be liberal and probably approved. So, our whole judicial system is up for grabs.
Still and all - what a turn in history for us. My 96.5 year old mother even voted for him - I asked her if she ever thought she would see a black man in the white house and she said no, but that McCain was too old. So that is why she voted for Obama.
In any event, we are all rocked here by financial stress - I had a good defensive portfolio but even that got hammered. And so now I am working part time and wondering if I have enought $$ to live for the next 40 years!!! Send some over here, please! (...)
